I've been thinking a lot about school and I really want to make this a great year and change how I do things in my classroom...it takes me out of my comfort zone and it might be a hard change at first, but it's something I really need to do. The end of the year was a little rocky for me but it only made be realize that I need to pull myself up by my boot straps and change things. I wish I knew my schedule so I can plan out the way I want to do groups and stuff. I'm actually a little bored (I don't say that out loud because I would probably get dirty looks lol) and I'm suffering a little with this arm injury (another story) so I think it's making me depressed too. Ugh.....

I posted my first item on Teachers Pay Teachers last night. It's a simple PDF for my schedule pocket chart that lists the days of the week. The first item you post had to be free so I'm hoping people download it and I get some "followers". I've started making a few other items and I'm hoping to post them and start making some money. It is time consuming but every little penny helps. If you want to see what I have (just the one thing is up now) please search my name Nicole Barile and hopefully this will become a new 'thing' for me! Excited and hopeful!!! Not looking to break the bank but every little but helps!!!

Some other things I'm thinking of doing include vocabulary cards, comprehension questions, and graphic organizers to go along with my reading curriculum. We use Scott Foresman Reading Street. I also want to do the same for math, social studies and science. Trying to keep busy, make some dough, and get creative for next year all at the same time!!

Even if you don't teach 2nd grade...please like my stuff so I don't feel like a total failure lol!!!

Kinda having a rough one...past few days left me with a lot weighing in my mind about a lot of stuff. Hopefully when this heat wave is over I will start to think more clearly and get the answers I need.

On vacation this week and spent Saturday to Wednesday sick. I had some stomach issues and I think I finally have to go and see a gastro, which I'm not looking forward to because I know they are going to want to scope me....front and back!!! Felt better yesterday afternoon so today I put hammers to hell and got to cleaning this house. I have a very busy weekend so I really needed today!

Tomorrow I am meeting with our Pastor to get the wedding planning started. Eric has to work but we figured I would be ok by myself for this first meeting. I'm kinda excited! Then my mom is having some friends over for lunch and I'm joining them. I am picking Eric up from work and we are headed to the Islanders/Rangers game at the coliseum. It,s gonna be a fun game because we are going with 4 friends and 2 of them are Islanders fans!!

Saturday I have some more cleaning and house stuff to do because we are having a Daytona 500 party Sunday. I'm making race car brownies and racing cupcakes. We are having the party catered so I am just making Sausage and Peppers and doing chips and stuff. Then Eric's sister is coming into town so we are going to dinner AND exchanging Christmas gifts lol!

Sunday is party day! We have about 20 people coming over, maybe more. It should be a lot of fun and hopefully everyone will be gone by 8 pm!!! Gotta go back to work Monday ughh!

I did get some wedding stuff done this week. I booked the limo and party bus...got a great deal on that! I also booked the hotel room block for the wedding weekend. That didn't cost anything, but it will when Eric and I book our room for the weekend. I also did a little work on the registry. Took off China and made some other changes. My sister advised me about the china and I agree that we will probably never use it and have no place to store it, so it went away and I added some more cookware and serving platters. The next thing we are going to tackle is invitations yay!!

What's left...favors, bridal party gifts, hair/make-up trial, bridesmaid dresses, and some things I'm sure I'm forgetting. My mom is having jewelry made for me from her diamonds from her engagement ring and my grandmother's wedding ring, so over spring break we are going to the jewelers to see what they could make. I'm thinking of a sunflower of some sort.

Guess that is all for now...going to catch up on my DVR!!

Weekend was good, the installation dinner was fun but i'n super tired and work is gonna drag these next two weeks until vacation!!

I have a pretty busy week planned and next week is Valentine's Day so maybe the weeks will go quickly!

Did my taxes today and I'm pleased with the refund, some money goes into wedding fund, some will go to help me with summer expenses, and I can even pay off a few bills! I'm still really poor but at least I can see a glimmer, a very small glimmer of light. Hopefully this will be the last year for me to be living paycheck to paycheck!

Tried to look at wedding finances tonight and I really hope we can make this happen the way we want. I'm all about cutting out the 'extra' stuff that we don't need so that might save some money...

8 months to go!!!!

I have been online for hours trying to find some places to have our wedding reception.  I have a 'short list' of reputable places...usual catering hall type venues.  Anyone out there know of someplace that perhaps is not  a 'wedding factory' on Long Island??
